Image Description

Description

A dynamic absorber is used to reduce/absorb unwanted vibrations. The structure considered, consists of a simply supported beam (1), where an exciter consisting of a rotating eccentric mass is mounted (2). By varying the rotational speed of the exciter, the excitation frequency of the applied force is varied. The absorption of oscillations is done through a secondary oscillatory system mounted on the beam. This oscillatory system, or dynamic absorber, consists of a beam fixed in the center (3), with two equal masses (4), mounted at a distance d from the center.

Objective:
Determine the configuration of the absorber, i.e., position of the masses, to efficiently attenuate the main beam oscillations at a given frequency.
