Virtual Vibration Laboratory - LV2

Welcome to LV2

The Virtual Vibration Laboratory (LV2) includes a set of innovative and attractive educational contents that allowed boosting the teaching model employed in the course of Vibrations and Noise at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), part of the University of Lisbon (UL).

LV2 focuses on "Problem Based Learning" methodologies in which Virtual Laboratory Experiences (VLEs) are presented with high pedagogical impact that foster student interest through constructive, collaborative, contextualized and self-guided learning on real and current problems.

Innovation

The innovation of LV2 consists in the implementation of a teaching methodology based on "Problem Based Learning" that combines laboratory experiments in a real laboratory environment with simulated experiments in a virtual laboratory environment.

Mission

Increase the way and quality of teaching, training, simulating and solving numerous real, current and innovative problems of vibrations in a virtual simulation environment, where - unlike a real laboratory - there is no limit of material and instrumentation, which translates into an ambitious innovation to apply in teaching.
In this sense, the possibilities for development, evolution and innovation are endless and LV2 may become a pioneering pedagogical innovation project in the area of vibrations.
